Hey everyone!
My name is Erika, I'm 18 years old, and am new to this community. I don't really know to say, or have much to say for that matter, but I just wanted to make an introductary post.

I don't mean to promote, but I saw fit for this community. I run the Women of Proverbs community, and I'd like it all very much if you joined.

God Bless! ♥

09:41 pm - tens of thousands now dead without Christ
The news said this earthquake was as strong as several atomic bombs and may have even effected the rotation of the earth - meaning it IS affecting you even if you don't know it.

I am very much awesomely surprised at the lack of...concern for tens of thousands people who are DEAD on the other side of the world here peoples! I mean seriously, except for the Christian LJ communities I'm in, I haven't seen hardly any posts about it nor people discussing it near me. It is my guess people are just insensitive, they haven't really paid attention to the news to see how bad things are, or they are trying to ignore it because it's so awful but I tell you CHRISTIANS (or supposed to be) we are the main ones that need to listen up about this. If this was in Jesus' day, I'm almost sure he'd pack up his disciples and head out there. Ok, perhaps we can't do that (esp you guys still under parental supervision) but we need to pray about this and I don't mean a 2 second prayer then let it leave our minds, but we need to take organized prayer for these people.

I felt so bad as I drove to work and I heard on the radio that it was at least 44,000 found dead, thousands of children are orphaned, and a million people are now homeless and w/o jobs and the chances of an epidemic from all the dead bodies that people are burying by hand. And y'know what, we haven't taken a pause for prayer, the president hasn't gotten on tv to address this to the public - nothing, we just are moving on like nothings going on. That hurts. It kept popping into my head how in the very end people would still be marrying and giving in marriage, just like in the days of Noah - in other words while all the disaster was happening that Jesus told of us, people would basically ignore it and life would go on like "normal" and that's what I see happening here.

As of now it is over 55,000, one article said at least 60,000 found dead and most are either in Indonesia or Sri Lanka. Do you know what religion these people are? They are Muslim and even Christians who did live there that were openly Christian or tried to convert someone was persecuted - little to say, there was an extremely low count of Christ worshippers. Us, North Americans who are comfortable and sit on our butts in heated homes with indoor plumming (sp?), know nothing about the kind of persecution they went thru, and many don't pray about it either but we NEED to wake up and pray, donate to missions, get in churches that have mission teams and support them even if we don't go ourselves. No, it may not be your uncle dead but there are tens of thousands now dead without Christ and I -know- that we are also to blame if we did not take some time to at least pray for them. Southeast Asia is like my favorite area of the world, from Thailand across and down to Australia. I for a long time wanted to visit Indonesia also (tho I lost interest b/c of my finances and other reasons years ago).

Church wake up. If you have a job, I don't care what age you are, if you have a warm house to sleep in, food to eat, money for gas, you need to donate to help these people. Yes YOU. What excuse do you have for not helping them with some type of support? If you don't know where to start search online, call your local news station or mayor's office or red cross or SOMETHING. Don't just sit there on your butt if you are a Christian, and if you aren't you still need to help. Have mercy, have love, do an unselfish deed. Afterall, like my mom said when she heard we're (the US is) sending troops, etc. over to help, she says "Yea but who'll help us when we're in tragedy?" and I replied, "We can afford to help ourselves." And honestly, that is to a great extent true just like 9/11. Yes we got some aid but we mostly dug out ourselves, these countries are 100x's more poor than even half of the US and now... well you can guess. And do you know our death toll from 9/11 was less than 5,000. Yes those were just as important, yet imagine that number multiplied by 10,000 and you start to see the magnitude here.

Here are some things you may find interesting or helpful in sending donations:

TD Jakes so rocks. Sometimes I just can't watch him but I love how he always focuses on women, men and families. But seriously tonight he was saying how God calls women the weaker vessel not because she's the lesser vessel but because she's special, precious and fragile and whatever is fragile is protected. Men need to protect us and treat us special. ^^ He said that women are so special to God that He created everything - got everything ready for us before He made us. XD It was so coolness. If you are married, engaged, or have a bf - WATCH TD Jakes and make your mate watch him too. Learn how to have a godly relationship, learn how to treat your man, how your man should treat and respect you. Don't let him get away with anything - demand respect according to the Lord.

02:35 pm - I found myself crying
Hey all, haven't posted here in a while and this community is too important to let die off like this. We should share our experiences here about our interaction with the Lord Jesus. Being mostly single women here, it is sometimes hard to deal with situations alone but we always have Jesus. We always have our Lord, our King, our Savior to back us up and reassure us that we are doing the right things.

Yesterday I was reading Isaiah the 54th chapter and I came to something that literally brought tears to my eyes. Read more...Collapse )
